Blacksboat Rapids

This rapid, also known as the Washing Machine, is just few hundred meters below Balllindalloch. The river narrows and cascades over a 2m drop, the resultant wave train extends for some 150m down river.  The outflow is straight resulting in very few break-out opportunities though  a skilled canoeist can successfully traverse the wave train and find some small pockets of still water.
Here Clive is crossing the flow and using a cross-deck stroke to fight his way into a pocket of quieter water.
