The Arno river originates on Mount Falterona in the Casentino area of the Apennines. The river passes through Florence, Empoli and Pisa, flowing into the Tyrrhenian Sea at Marina di Pisa.
This shot captures the Arno spilling over the Santa Rosa weir in Florence. It owes its name to the small tower of Santa Rosa. The weir is a gathering place for the teenagers and young couples of Florence. In many ways as romantic as the Ponte Vecchio, but completely un-commercialised.
