High and Dry, Isle of Harris

Of course Harris is not really an island, but the mountainous southern tip of the Isle of Lewis. Travelling south from Tarbert visitors are soon tempted on to the “Golden Road”, a single track route that twists along the eastern coast past miniature fjords where every village and hamlet has either a Gaelic or Viking name.

In every inlet can be found all measure of boats and marine paraphernalia, this is an environment where the economics of replacement and disposal are quickly outweighed by a lick of paint and some creative re-purposing
